A one bowl mix that's super easy and tastes like nan used to make, but i've amped up the flavor (sorry nan!). This savory scone would be perfect for breakfast, nice and warm with lashings of butter. Ingredients:
2 cups Plain flour 1 tablespoon Castor sugar 1 tablespoon Baking powder 1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon Salt 60g unsalted butter, cut into cubes (must be cold) 3/4 cup Buttermilk 1 cup Cheese, shredded 1/3 cup Bacon, cooked and diced 1 Small Spring Onion, sliced finely Butter to serve Method: Preheat oven to 180'c. Line a baking sheet with baking paper. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder and salt. Add butter, using your fingers to rub the butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in buttermilk, cheese, bacon and spring onion until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough until it comes together. Place mixture onto a lightly floured surface and using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a large circle, about 2.5cm thick, and score into 8 equal wedges. Place loaf onto the prepared baking sheet. Place into oven and bake for 25-35 minutes, or until firm to touch and lightly browned. Serve immediately with butter. Yum!
